Indivigroup Digital Community

Indivigroup is a digital community where participants find solutions to open-ended problems. A flexible social platform that encourages broad and deep individual creativity, then vets and ranks responses using community power. Applied concepts from psychology and game theory to fundamentally re-engineer open-form group question making. Served as CTO, designing architecture and developing both backend and UI using AngularJS with Spring MVC OAuth2 Secured REST API.

About This Project

Indivigroup represents one of the most intellectually challenging projects I've worked on. As CTO, I was responsible for translating complex concepts from psychology and game theory into a functional digital platform that could harness collective intelligence for problem-solving.

The core idea behind Indivigroup is that traditional group decision-making often fails because of groupthink, where people conform to dominant opinions rather than contributing their unique perspectives. Our platform was designed to overcome this by structuring the contribution and evaluation process in a way that encourages genuine individual creativity before any group consensus is formed.

The platform works in phases: first, participants independently submit their ideas or solutions to a posed question. Only after the submission phase closes do participants see others' contributions. Then, a sophisticated ranking system - informed by game theory principles - allows the community to evaluate and prioritize responses without the biases that typically plague group discussions.

Technically, I built the platform using AngularJS for the frontend and Spring MVC for the backend, with OAuth2 providing secure authentication. The ranking algorithms required careful implementation to ensure fairness and resistance to gaming. I deployed the application on Red Hat OpenShift for reliable cloud hosting.

The platform has been used by organizations for everything from strategic planning to creative brainstorming, demonstrating the practical value of applying behavioral science to software design.
